ECOLOGY - The first church out of recyclable materials is in Scotland!

The first Church of recycled and natural materials will be built in Scotland, near Milton in Glasgow.

Locals participate actively in the implementation of the initiative, collecting plastic bottles, cans of soft drinks, even old tires and straw to build the Church in one of the most deprived areas.

Materials such as old tires will be used for the foundations of the Church, cans for the construction of walls and furniture and straw as an insulating material. For rooms’ construction, industrial pallets and containers will also be used.

The Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council approved funds to finance the project, but initiative founders seek additional 2.2 million pounds to expand the project. As pointed out, offices and cafes envision a green landscape, while expressing the hope that they will be able to complete the project by 2014.
