and therefore is providing public land distributed to unemployed who wish to cultivate vegetables either to cover their needs or sell them in order to gain income.
In particular, the 20.000 s.m area is going to be separated to squares (of 50 s.m each). The area will be so organized to have paths to each square as well as independent irrigation system to each little veggie garden (that is Perivolaki in Greek)!
According to the design of this plan, young unemployed up to 35 years old will be invited to participate. This innovative project is calculated to cover the interest and need of 200 people without any rent!
Some of the conditions to obtain such a piece of land, apart from the pre-requested criteria, is that participants are prohibited to use any pesticides or chemicals, since the products will be pure biological, and they are obliged to offer 10% of their production to city’s Social Grocery, so that to help cover needs of other people in need.
However, the project does not end here; Municipality of Larissa will also offer 200 s.m of public land to schools willing to revive the old school partnerships, as well as the elderly!
